The AKA-KURO legend

“How do I keep
evil away?”

In our tale, people climbed to a mountain temple with that same wish.

The monks gave them a knotted cord. Red to keep their courage. Black to guard their peace.

A small thing to hold when the world felt too big.

The wish inside the knot

Keep harm away.
Keep love close.

The mask guards the temple in our tale. The knot carries that wish with you: do not let fear steal your courage, or anger steal your peace.

A symbol of protection. A reminder you can touch.

Two colours. Two kinds of strength.

Two colours.
One wish: protection.

AKA 赤

Keep your fire.

Crimson red stands for courage.
For the days you need to begin again.

KURO 黒

Guard your peace.

Black onyx stands for strength.
A reminder to stay steady when life gets loud.

Wear one for yourself. Give one to someone you want to protect.

From thread to bracelet

How a thread
becomes a bracelet.

Three steps. One small thing to keep close.

01

It starts with a cord.

Red or black. A centre bead. Two smaller beads beside it.

02

Then, the hands take over.

The cord folds around the bead. Each knot is pulled close to the next.

03

The last knot lets it move.

Slide it open. Slip it on. Pull the ends gently for a close fit.

The knot, on paper

The centre bead. The woven cord. The knot that slides.

For someone who matters

“I can’t be there every day.
Keep this close.”

A new job. A long journey. A hard week.
Give them a bracelet, and tell them why.

Give a little strength

A few things to know.

Does the bracelet keep evil away?

It is a symbol of protection. No bracelet can promise to stop bad things. Its meaning is the wish you give it: courage for yourself, peace in your life, or care for someone you love.

Is the mountain story real?

It is an original AKA-KURO tale, inspired by Japanese art and the wish for protection. The mountain temple and monks are part of that story.

What do the colours mean?

AKA means red. Its crimson bead stands for fire and courage. KURO means black. Its onyx bead stands for stone and a steady heart. These are the meanings we give them at AKA-KURO.

How does the bracelet fit?

Gently pull the bracelet sides to open it. Slip it over your hand, then pull the cord ends to tighten. The sliding knot lets you adjust the fit.

Can I mix the colours?

Yes. Choose 1, 2 or 3 bracelets, then choose your mix of red and black. The colours and total are shown above the cart button.
